About Mossman Equestrian
A family yard in the beautiful Blackdown Hills of Dunkeswell, Devon — where horse owners feel at home.
Golden Lane Stables, Dunkeswell
Our Story
Phil and Alex Mossman, alongside their daughter Elsie, purchased Golden Lane Stables in October 2022. They instantly fell in love with the beautiful views across the Devon countryside and the tranquil setting in the Blackdown Hills. It seemed the perfect place to reinvigorate Alex's competition career and introduce Elsie to the joys of horse ownership.
At Mossman Equestrian, we want everyone to enjoy horse ownership as much as we do. Whether you're looking for livery in a gorgeous rural setting, expert coaching to improve your riding, or simply a quality arena to school in — we'd love to welcome you.
Phil works full-time in the aviation sector, and Alex in education. Together they've created a yard that feels like home — friendly, relaxed, and run with a genuine love of horses.

Experience & Expertise
Alex has had her BHSAI for over 15 years and has competed at the highest levels of amateur dressage. She has ridden at Prix St George on Kasper the Friesian, at Medium level on the sadly passed Gillmore, competed in low-level eventing on Tinker, and has exciting future plans with four-year-old Larry.
Alex's coaching style is patient, positive, and effective — she works with riders at every level, from complete beginners working towards their first competition to established riders looking to refine their techniques. Her depth of competition experience means her advice is always grounded in what actually works.
Prix St George
Competed at PSG on Kasper van Languewold (Friesian)
BD Medium
Competed at Medium on Gillmore, 5th at BD Novice Summer Regionals
British Eventing

Meet the Horses
The five equines that call Golden Lane Stables home.
Kasper
Purebred FriesianKasper van Languewold — Heinse 354 × Jakoba H.
A purebred Friesian owned since a somewhat unruly four-and-a-half-year-old. Having competed successfully at Prix St George for two seasons, Kasper is now semi-retired and enjoying life in Devon.
Gilly ♡ In Memoriam
WarmbloodGillmore — Bodyguard Moorlands × Wabola
Owned from an unbacked three-year-old, Gilly sadly passed away after a wonderful career. He came 5th at the BD Novice Summer Regionals at his very first attempt and ended his last season at Medium with a healthy score of 69%.
Tinker
Sport HorseTinker's Liberator — Catherston Liberator × Percys Secret Endeavour
Bought as an unbroken three-year-old and brought along carefully. Tinker has competed at ODE BE80 and won his last competition on a double clear at only his third attempt. Currently jumping British Novice BS level.
Larry
Sport HorseLamborghini — Londontime × Weltano
Growing into his long legs (he was supposed to be 16hh but is nearer 17!), Larry has a kind, gentle character and an incredibly active hind leg. Currently being backed — a very exciting prospect for the future.
Arnold
Shetland PonySomething Jupiter — Shetland Pony
Pint-sized friend for pint-sized Elsie. Arnold will hopefully provide years of lead-rein hacks over the Blackdown Hills. Very sweet with not too much of the Shetland stereotype — just ample floof hiding an ample tummy!
